| The Saint-Julien
d'Arpaon district of Lozère comprises seven hamlets in the heart
of the Cévennes National Park, in Camisard country. It is situated
in line with the Vallée Longue, above the Mimente river, which is
ideal for bathing and fario trout fishing. The seven hamlets of the district are : Balazuègnes, Bougès, L'Hermet, Mijavols, Le Puychauzier, Ventajols and Saint-Julien d'Arpaon. |

| Saint-Julien d'Arpaon is also famous for the great ruins of its XIIth century castle, abandoned since the Revolution. The ancient home of the Lords of Gabriac towers forlornly above the Mimente river and the main road from Alès to Florac. |
